About NORTEC Employment & Training
excelling in employment, training and community
NORTEC came about as a result of the merger between TTEC Enterprises (who had been a part of the Tweed community since 1979) and Ballina Skills and Development Centre (BETC), based in the northern rivers region since 1986. Both companies began out of a desire to create employment opportunities and economic growth in our local region.
Since the merger of these two like-minded companies in 2007, NORTEC has successfully grown to have 16 offices throughout the Mid and North Coasts of NSW, from Nambucca to Tweed Heads.
NORTEC Employment and Training Ltd deliver:
- Australian Government funded Job Services Australia program - no-cost recruitment services
- Commercial Labour Hire recruitment services for construction, hospitality, trades, labour and admin
- training & traineeship solutions for individuals and businesses.
NORTEC also deliver these community programs and initiatives:
- youth programs,
- small business incubators to encourage small business growth in our region.
- the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) in the Clarence and Northern Rivers
- Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program
- a volunteer referral service - providing volunteer resourcing and support to Community Groups in the Northern Rivers
- Nambucca Pride Cafe - a hospitality training cafe to support jobseekers in the Nambucca region
NORTEC is a not-for-profit organisation and any profits from its commercial enterprises (NORTEC Labour Hire and also NORTEC Training) support NORTEC community program delivery. In addition, NORTEC invest in charitable donations and sponsorships to the community—such as local surf clubs, hospitals and the NSW Cancer Council, as well as supporting events that encourage social and economic growth in our region.
NORTEC have an annual Community Grants Initiative where local community organisations can tender for financial aid for their community organisation or project. Read more in our community benefits page.
NORTEC Employment and Training Ltd is made up of a dynamic and talented team of approximately 200 employees. Camaraderie and team spirit ensure a positive work culture at NORTEC, and a sense of fulfilment out of contributing to the community.
