NORTEC Community Grants Initiative
NORTEC recently launched their Community Grants Initiative in 2009, offering a grant share of $25,000 from Nambucca to Tweed Heads for community organisations on the North Coast.

Supporting our Local Surf Lifesaving Clubs
Surf Life Savers are the unsung hereos in our beautiful region and NORTEC aim to support Surf Life Saving Clubs whenever we can.
In 2007 NORTEC donated $4,000 to Fingal SLSC to assist them purchase another jet ski for rescue operations and each year NORTEC sponsor the Cudgen Nippers Classic, encouraging young locals to become surf savvy.
Annually, NORTEC are involved in Boardies Day and this year, due to expansion of NORTEC territory, NORTEC have nominated clubs from Coffs Harbour to Tweed and each branch is already preparing fundraising activities for the local clubs. See our recent Boardies Day press release on the Tweed.
NORTEC Labour Hire sponsor the Rainbow Bay SLSC that has a high percentage of Tweed Shire members. This year we sponsored the Dolphins - check out the cute NORTEC Dolphins!
Getting Behind Movember - Raising awareness for men's health issues
On a day to day basis NORTEC deal with disadvantaged community members and issues like depression are common amongst our many of our clients. Movember is a way for us to support our male community members and educate them to seek help for physical and mental health issues.
In 2009 all staff in our offices got behind the cause with fundraising activities and we raised a motzah $5,308.85!

NORTEC has established Community Investment Program through which the Company reinvests its profits back into the Community.
Projects have included: Volunteering Referral Service - NORTEC Volunteering:
- Investment of over $30,000 in 2000 into a Volunteering Research Project which has now led to the establishment of NORTEC Volunteering as an agency linking Tweed and Northern Rivers Volunteers with Volunteering opportunities in the community.
- Subsidisation of NORTEC Volunteering over the period of 2001-2009 - approx $300,000.
Youth Services:
- Subsidisation of NORTEC Youth Services youth program delivery over the period of 2001-2009, investing approximately $40,000 and $50,000 per year into bettering our youth program delivery.
Language Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP)
- Subsidisation of NORTEC LLNP to improve service delivery of the program - $25,000 per annum.
Other:
- Investment in 2001 of $20,000 into the Murwillumbah Community Support Scheme to establish a Volunteer Co-ordinators position and $10,000 maintenance towards same in 2002 and 2003.
