Connecting volunteers with the community

NORTEC Volunteering is a Resource and Referral Centre for volunteers and volunteering organisations in the Tweed Region.

NORTEC Volunteering has been an exciting and evolving project since it's inception in April 2000, culminating in NORTEC Volunteering winning the 'Trade, Professional and Service Award' section of the Tweed Business Excellence Awards for 2004.

This outstanding service supports over 130 not-for-profit organisations on the Tweed in recruiting and training volunteers.

The project is an initiative of NORTEC Employment and Training and aims to support community needs and ultimately build better communities in the Tweed Shire.

Along with Volunteering Australia’s annual funding for the referral service, NORTEC Enterprises fund approximately $30-40,000 each year to ensure this vital community operative continues to exist.

The Tweed Shire Council provides rent-free premises in Nullum Street, Murwillumbah for the referral service to operate out of.

NORTEC Volunteering proudly supports the local community festivals and events such as the annual Speed on Tweed festival, World Environment Day, Harmony Day, the Banana Festival in Murwillumbah and more.

NORTEC Volunteering aims to match potential volunteers with the aims and goals of organisations who provide services in our region. NORTEC Volunteering is part of a regional, state and national volunteering network linked directly to Volunteering Australia.
