NORTEC Volunteering Testimonials
Connecting volunteers with the community
“Tweed Tourism has been affiliated with NORTEC Volunteering for the past five years. Over this time, NORTEC Volunteering has regularly provided us with quality volunteers for our three Visitor Information Centers in the Tweed, as well as administration volunteers.
We have always found the staff and volunteers associated with Volunteering Tweed to be understanding of our needs and willing to help us find extra volunteers when needed in a hurry.
The organization also is a valuable resource regarding all areas related to volunteering, for example training, human resources, volunteer and employers rights and volunteer management, as well as being able to keep us up to date on relevant issues with the regular volunteer coordinator meetings.
NORTEC Volunteering’s assistance in recruitment and management of volunteers has been invaluable to us as an organization and we will continue to rely on their resources in the future”
Julie Hardy, Tweed Tourism
Rob and the team at NORTEC Volunteering have proven an invaluable resource for Blue Care in Northern NSW and the southern Gold Coast They have provided a one-stop shop for all our volunteering needs, including advertising, recruitment, training, networking and advice on volunteer recognition/retention and government policy. Their service is prompt and professional and they are my first point of call for all volunteering matters“
Alison Bourke, Blue Care Respite
NORTEC Volunteering have provided us with candidates of an exceptional standard. All were well presented, punctual, polite and most importantly, eager to participate in the various roles at the centre. The roles we have for volunteers are reception, administration and cleaning and a bus assistant.
As a testament to the quality of volunteers, we have, on two occasions , employed volunteers in a paid capacity to fill in when regular staff take leave. This has proven to be the ideal solution for us as we have someone who is familiar with our organization and who can step seamlessly into the role. I have no hesitation in recommending the service of NORTEC Volunteering to any organization needing assistance.
Ron Brisby, Centre Coordinator, Coolangatta Senior Citizens
“…since 2000, Council has played a significant role in the establishment and development of NORTEC Volunteering (previously Volunteering Tweed) via the Steering Committee and subsequent Advisory Committee. In addition, Council continues to provide significant in-kind ongoing support.
Volunteers are a vital resource in the Tweed community and NORTEC Volunteering, through the comprehensive database, provides a ‘one-stop shop’ to facilitate training and connecting volunteers with suitable service providers. NORTEC Volunteering ensures mutual obligations are met between volunteers and service providers, and assists volunteers to grow, acquire new skills and knowledge, develop personal potential and self-reliance.
In consequence, this has steered many volunteers into full time employment in the community. In addition, NORTEC Volunteering provides an invaluable service for our retirees. Tweed Shire has one of the highest percentages of people over 65 in Australia, many of whom seek volunteering as a way of maintaining a connection to the community. There are several services, staffed entirely by volunteers, which provide care and social support to the frail aged and disabled”.
